Direct all facilities projects and maintenance activity.  Develops and maintains programs that promote Safety/EHS throughout the organization.  Audit overall compliance with required training and Safety/EHS discipline. Assists in directing the Safety Team. Supports applicable regulations including ISO, Local, State, and/or Federal requirements.

  • Oversee and manage the coordination of all work order requests that are submitted to Facilities/Maintenance.
  • Oversee the maintenance for building air conditioners and fleet equipment.
  • Oversee routine inspections for opening and de-alarming the buildings; resolve apparent problems.
  • Oversee and manage all construction needs, remodeling, painting and refinishing of all buildings.
  • Oversee, monitor, and select outside contracted vendors.
  • Oversee the installation of all new equipment and ensures compliance with all applicable EHS requirements
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and calibration of Company equipment.
  • Oversee the maintenance of Company’s off site storage.
  • Identifies and leads Facilities / EHS improvement projects such as utilities conservation, space optimization, waste reduction, etc.
  • Develops and maintains set of metric to assess facilities and EHS performance on an on-going basis.  Drives necessary improvements to ensure best in class performance. 
  • Conducts EHS management reviews and reports EHS Metrics & trends to Senior Management, as well as progress updates against EHS objectives, and targets and Safety/EHS site strategy
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of the site Business Continuity Program (BCP) and ensures that this is testes on annual basis for effectiveness via table top exercises and/or other mechanisms.
  • Site representative in all related Facilities and EHS audits.  Ensures any observations are promptly addressed and corrective / preventive actions implemented.
  • Oversees the development of appropriate training materials and programs that will foster a safe working environment and a culture of continuous SEHS improvement.  Utilizes existing resources where available and develops new materials as required.
  • Maintains own level of training in CPR/First Aid, General Safety, Laboratory Safety, Environmental (Chemical) disposal regulations, OSHA/CAL OSHA compliance and Workers Compensation compliance & case management.
  • Performs documented risk analysis on scheduled basis (anticipated quarterly to start), and makes analysis of risks part of everyday activity.  Particular areas for attention include: Repetitive motion, use of Sharps, general handling of potentially infectious material, work posture / body mechanics (ergonomics), Chemical handling & potential for exposure.
  • Maps EHS processes (flow chart or other method as appropriate).
  • Audits EHS processes for compliance and smooth function. 
  • Oversees the modification EHS processes as necessary to improve compliance and results.
  • Responsible for creation of a system to identify new chemicals before they are ordered in order to evaluate potential hazards and alternatives.  Works with Lab personnel, Purchasing and Receiving to assure no chemicals are brought into lab without approval, appropriate training and knowledge of disposal costs.
  • Keeps up to date with all EHS changing regulation.  Communicates changes to the organization and ensures appropriate and timely deployment throughout the organization.
  • Responsible for performing assigned tasks in accordance with applicable safety regulations and instructions, as well as correcting unsafe work habits and practices and/or bringing to the attention of the Safety Team or a supervisor any practice or condition that may be detrimental to the safety and health of the employees.  You also have a responsibility to cooperate in all safety or health-related programs and assist in solving safety and health problems.  Violations of safety directives and procedures will be handled in accordance with the established Company disciplinary process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervise a minimum of  4-7 employees in a given unit.  Also responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Prefer Bachelor’s degree (BA), from a four-year college or university; and/or 6–8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous Facilities and EHS Management and experience required.
